Hi, I’m Derek “Bubba” Hall — a mobile developer with a unique blend of technical skill, real-world experience, and a deep passion for coaching and helping others succeed.
Before entering the tech world, I built a strong foundation in leadership and communication through years of work in professional sports and customer service. I held roles as an assistant manager at a gas station, hard goods manager at a retail golf store, and a sales representative for PepsiCo Bottling Company. These experiences taught me the value of reliability, teamwork, and customer-first thinking — qualities I carry into every project I build.
Driven to do more, I made the leap into software development and enrolled in the mobile app development program at Dixie Technical College. There, I gained expertise in Swift and Kotlin, and became proficient in designing and building native iOS and Android applications using Xcode, Android Studio, and IntelliJ IDEA. I not only graduated from the program — I also helped teach it, mentoring a new cohort of students and leaning into my natural talent for coaching and instruction.
During the program, I successfully published my own app to the iOS App Store — a project I remain deeply passionate about. That experience reinforced my strengths in UI/UX, debugging, and product iteration. As both a former golf coach and a current tumbling coach, I’ve developed a sharp eye for detail and the ability to give constructive, actionable feedback without spoon-feeding solutions.
I bring to the table a rare mix of technical knowledge, teaching ability, and leadership experience. Whether I’m building apps, mentoring teammates, or analyzing code, I thrive on helping people reach their full potential — and I’m excited to contribute to a forward-thinking, innovative team.
